Directly from Southern Sri Lanka. Touched with a warm coastal breeze, this cinnamon blooms with sweetness and a story of Udya's family farm in Matara.

Grown alongside turmeric, coconut and papaya, Matara Cinnamon is delicately sweet with notes of citrus, apple and honey. The cinnamon quills are expertly hand-peeled and ground using locally made machines at an entirely women-run facility.

• THE STORY •

Udya and her late mother cared for their pesticide-free farm for decades.

In 2008, when her mother became ill, Udya had to leave to support the family.

Sixteen years later, she decided to return and sustainably restore the 10-acre farm whilst dedicating 3% of revenue to village development.

Even better than expected

Bought this partly because of its fairly traded background, and am bowled over by how much better it tastes compared with what was in my cupboard. It's just delicious, with complex sweet and spicy flavours. Didn't know cinnamon could taste like this. I am gifting the second jar to a dear friend. Definitely not a one-off purchase. Highly recommended. Thank you for having added this spice to your range (the turmeric is exceptional, too, and have ordered several times now.)

Very good quality

Hi Don't normally write reviews, but thought i would as it seems that this is a company who are small and provide a personal touch. Everything was well packaged with a personal written note. I had some cinnamon with milk and some of the tumeric, it seems very good quality, it's not cheap, but I guess you're paying for quality and it works out less expensive than buying tumeric in capsuels and seems to go to a good cause .. would be nice if they offered larger jars as I don't think that it will last that long ..
